"Anto, nonetheless, I know enough to understand that photography is my life. It’s something I have to do to feel good, more than just a passion. I often say that photography is breathtaking, but for me, it’s the best medicine against pain.

I live outside Milan and started years ago working with jazz musicians and concerts, mainly for magazines. At the same time, my love for nature pushed me to embrace a major project—actually, an ongoing work—on the landscape of the American Southwest. As I write these lines, this has resulted in three exhibitions, two books, Western Light and Dunes, and several large prints. You can see some of them on @desert_elements.

It took about a year after I started before I began shooting glamour, but since my Instagram is quite recent, only a part of my latest work is there.

Living this way doesn’t leave much free time, but historical documentaries and old movies are something that resonates with me.

Basically, I realize that if you live with a strong passion—for me, images—you are engaged 24/7, at least mentally. It’s really difficult to separate creativity from the rest of your world. Sometimes, ideas come from the strangest situations.”
